Menfolk Journeys
This podcast explores how different men from all walks of life wear the beautiful and confusing mantle of manhood.
Men can be knuckleheads in public life. But in private, if given the right questions and if they feel comfortable, men can also be thoughtful, reflective, and have deep conversations about their lives, big questions, and meaningful ideas.
We have great conversations with men just like us and from all walks of life, so we can learn from their personal stories and all get better together.

52. Patton and The Father You Get

How can you reconcile your memories of your father, when doing so becomes painful, embarrassing, and leaves you with a feeling of loss?
Patton has had to think about his sonhood experiences with his alcoholic father, and the destructive wake he grew up in.
It wasn't until he was older and became his own father that he dedicated time, heart, and energy to writing down his own reflections and feelings. And, perhaps in doing so, he could begin to heal himself and even arrive at a place of forgiveness and understanding.
Because, if you don't forgive, how can you move forward? How can you think about the future if you're still clinging to the past?
