Menfolk Journeys

32. Parish and His Own Black Experience

Chris Foster Season 1 Episode 32

Don't we all have our own, uniquely lived experience in living? Aren't our thoughts our own? Can't two people experience the same moment differently, based on who they are, and their own backgrounds and other, past experiences?

This is a frank, honest, real yik-yak between two guys, one of whom shares stories and lessons from his own Black experience. Which is a different experience than my own. And, which is different than The Black Experience. His is the Parish Experience.

We could all agree that inclusion - the act of creating environments where someone is welcome; equality - where every person's life is worthy; and diversity - which means that we all own the right to our own thoughts and ideas...are actually normal, good things in life and community.

So where did it get polarizing, when, essentially, these are ideas we most all agree on?

This is a great conversation about these topics and more, and how we engage the next generation to have dialogue that helps us all move forward together.
