5. The Necessary Gift of Resilience

May 31, 2024 Chris Foster Season 1 Episode 5

One of the more philosophical and poetic moments of the “Rocky” movies is in the last one, Rocky Balboa. In it, Rocky tells his son “You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward.”

And again, in pop culture, is the Marvel story of Daredevil, a young boy stricken blind but also given extraordinary sensory abilities. He’s a badass, and kicks and punches and fights in Hell’s Kitchen. His mantra: “Never give up. Never give up.”

We ALL have moments that break our bones. We all have times that push us down, drive us under, and leave us feeling weak and underconfident. There’s no man I’ve ever met who has not felt ashamed, weakened, or experienced a moment of fear, or failure.

But the question is, “What do we do about it?” “How do we move forward?”

And most importantly, are we stronger for the experience?

We'll have a conversation about the gift of resiliency and the art of moving forward.
